How to do online road tax renewal with MyEG & more

It’s known that most car owners have expired road tax due to the ongoing Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). However, you must understand the level of importance of having valid road tax and car insurance. You’d never know that one day, you’re heading out to do groceries nearby your house, and bam! An accident happens. You won’t be able to claim any damages and local authorities will fine you for driving without a valid road tax and car insurance. Only recently, counters are open for road tax renewal. However, if you’re uncomfortable to do so – you can opt to renew it online.

With that said, here’s a guide to renew your road tax online via MyEG, JPJ, or Bjak:

MyEG Road Tax Renewal Process

MyEG Website

• Head to their website at http://www.myeg.com.my
• On the main page, click JPJ “Check & Pay Road Tax”
• The account login/registration page will then come into view.

Account Registration

• You’ll need an account before proceeding to the road tax renewal section.
• Click “Create Account”
• Fill in your details into the provided blanks accordingly.
• Once you’ve completed that, submit your details.
• You’ll receive a confirmation email through your registered email.
• From the email, you’ll need to confirm and activate your account.

Account Login & Type of Renewal

• Return to the account login/registration page.
• Enter username and password.
• A different MyEG login page will come into view.
• On this page, you’ll need to key in your username and password once more.
• Under the Go To, select MYROADTAX
• Continue by clicking “Login”
• You’ll be directed to the Type of Road Tax Renewal page
• There are two types of tax renewal options: “Car Road Tax Renewal” or “Motorcycle Road Tax Renewal”
• You may select which type of renewal you’re opting to proceed with.

Car Details & Renewal Period

• On this page, proceed to fill in the provided blanks with the necessary information.
• Under the Renewal Period, you may select your road tax’s life span to last either for 6 months or 12 months.
  
  *Please make sure your information is correct before proceeding to the payment section.

Payment & Delivery

• By scrolling down, you can view the list of road tax delivery charges.
• Proceed to make your payment accordingly.
• Once you’ve made the payment, just be patient and wait for it to reach you!

JPJ Road Tax Renewal Process

JPJ Website

• Head to their website at https://www.jpj.gov.my/
• On the top right, click onto the user login icon.
• The account login page will then come into view.
• On that page, you may select Public for individual road tax renewal.

Account Registration

• mySikap account registration page will come into view.
• Fill in your details into the provided blanks accordingly.
• Once you’ve completed that, submit your details.
• You’ll receive a confirmation email through your registered email.
• From the email, you’ll need to confirm and activate your account.
• Once you’ve activated it, you’ll need to log in to your account to proceed further.

Completing Account Registration

• Complete your account registration by filling in the provided blanks.
• Once submitted, you’ll receive an email with your username and temporary password.
• You’ll need to login once more with the received details and update your password again.

Type of Renewal and Car Details

• On the main mySikap page, click “Kenderaan”
• You’ll be able to review your personal details.
• Under the Transaksi/Tindakan, select “Pembaharuan Lesen Kenderaan Motor (LKM)”
• You’ll need to review your details before proceeding to the renewal page.

Renewal Period

• On this page, proceed to fill in the provided blanks with the necessary information.
• Under the Tempoh LKM, you may select your road tax’s life span to last either for 6 months or 12 months.
• Once you’ve completed the necessary requirements, you may proceed to the payment page.
  
  *Once again, please make sure your information is correct before proceeding to the payment section.

Payment & Road Tax Collection

• Please check thoroughly on your details and the payment amount before making the payment.
• You may select your payment method and preferred bank.
• Proceed to make the payment accordingly.
• Once you’ve made the payment, print out the receipt and head to your nearest JPJ branch to make the collection!

Go to https://motor-v2.policystreet.com/ on any browser. You should come here:

• Here you should first choose the type of car insurance (Third party, fire & theft OR Comprehensive).
• Fill in your car plate number and residential postcode.
• Choose the type of sum insured (Market value OR Agreed value), then click “Proceed”.
• If your car is used for e-hailing services, remember to tick the “The car is used for e-hailing services” box.
• Remember to double check your details before clicking proceed! 

• Choose your nationality (Malaysian OR Foreigner OR *Company).
• Fill in your details. Double check before clicking “Proceed”.
• Once your details are submitted successfully, this popup will appear.

Then all you need to do is wait for PolicyStreet.com’s team will send you a message or email!

Bjak Insurance and Road Tax Renewal Process

 

Bjak Website

• Head to the Bjak Website: https://www.bjak.my/en
• Select your preferred language
• Scroll down to insurance (you need to buy car insurance to buy road tax)

Details

• Fill in your details and select ‘Get free quote’.
• Follow the link to the Bjak website.

Insurance 

• Find your preferred insurance provider and plan and select ‘I want this’.
• Select ‘Yes’ under ‘Road Tax’ and any other additional insurance coverage you desire.
• Fill in your details and pay. Don’t forget to double check your details!
• Once you paid, just wait for your road tax to be delivered to the address you provided!
